ACTION REQUESTED: REQUEST TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO
CONSIDER APPROVING THE KITTITAS COUNTY
SHERIFFS OFFICE LEASE OF AIRPORT LOTS C-5 &
C-6.
BACKGROUND: The airport has leased lots C-5 & C-6 to Kittitas County
Public Works since 2017. Recently KCPW chose to
terminate their lease with the Airport and transfer the fence
asset to the Airport Department. The Sheriff’s Office has
been utilizing this area periodically and it seemed to be a
good time to transition into a new lease as the Sheriff’s
Office. They are currently in need of storage space as they
begin the transition to upper county for their SARs
program.
DISCUSSION: The lease is a one-year lease renewable each year
beginning May 1, 2022. The lease will be renewed upon
the necessity of the Sheriff’s Office to continue storage.
The initial year will be at the current rate of the Public
Works lease of $3,512.68 per lot.
INTERACTION: Sheriff’s Office, BoCC, Prosecutor and Airport Staff
RECOMMENDATION: Set public hearing concerning the Kittitas County Sheriff’s
Office lease for May 3, 2022, at 2pm.
