Cook, Director TO MEMORANDUM Kittitas Gounty Board of County Gommissioners Candie Leader, Administrative Supervisor Ryan Berge (Road Foreman) March 7,2022 Gran Fondo Special Event Application CC: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT After review of the special event application for the Gran Fondo scheduled for June 12, 2022, Public Works has found that the applicant has identified that this event will not obstruct, interfere or require the closure and free use of public roads and rights of way. As this event does not require closures or roadway detours, this is unordinary road use that the traveling public is not routinely exposed to. The amount of bicycle traffic will however obstruct and interfere with normal motorized vehicle use. Public Works will require traffic control be implemented for this event. This may include large orange "Bikes on Roadway" signs placed along the route and intersections. Safety of both the event participants and the traveling public would benefit from advanced warning signs being implemented as the risk of bicycle and motorized vehicle conflicts would be reduced. Additionally, the applicant will be required to issue advanced notification for the event and any traffic impacts in the Daily Record and the Northern Kittitas County Tribune two weeks in advance to inform the public.
