Kittitas County <br />Prosecutor <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />4/5/2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Execute MOU <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />National litigation has been ongoing to assess and distribute damages caused to American communities by <br />the pushing of opioid drugs by certain manufacturers and distributers. Kittitas County has been a named <br />party to some of this litigation, along with other counties and cities. The litigation has come to a phase <br />where it is to the litigating municipalities advantage to enter into an MOU that sets forth a framework for <br />distribution of awarded damages. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />The Prosecutor's Office has been working with the law firm representing the Washington litigating <br />municipalities and has reviewed and approved the attached MOU. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Execute the attached MOU. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Neil Caulkins <br />
