KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />2022 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: March 15, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair’s <br />signature on Watershed Sciences and Engineering Task Order <br />No. 4 – Easton Reach Yakima River Hazard Analysis and <br />Mapping Investigation. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Recently, Public Works was noticed of a Flood Account <br />Assistance Program award from the Washington State <br />Department of Ecology. The grant allows us to study a portion <br />of the river in the Elk Heights area. Kittitas County Public <br />Works has an on-call professional hydraulic and hydrologic <br />contract with Watershed Sciences and Engineering (WSE). WSE <br />has successfully performed comparable work for Kittitas County <br />along the Yakima River and has worked with FEMA to update <br />mapping to reflect improved hydraulic and hydrologic <br />information. <br /> <br />Data collection and the technical assessment will be completed <br />by the end of 2022. This task order includes the preparation of a <br />map revision application to the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency in 2023 so that regulatory maps will reflect best <br />available information. <br /> <br />This contract is funded by Department of Ecology Funding <br />Agreement No. SEAFCAAC-2123-KiCPWD-00016 and with <br />Flood Control Zone District levee funding. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Chair’s signature on Watershed Sciences and <br />Engineering Task Order No. 4 – Easton Reach Yakima River <br />Hazard Analysis and Mapping Investigation <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Watershed Sciences and Engineering Task Order <br />No. 4 – Easton Reach Yakima River Hazard Analysis and <br />Mapping Investigation <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas, Water Resource Manager.
