Response 2.1 *llhy would lourisis travel to Kittilas County to atlend your eventaclivjtylfacility? As the largest public event for KEEN, WindFall will coniinue to showcase central Washington at the height of ihe fall season. Hard cider is the nation's fastest growing beverage and that industry continues to gain fans from around ihe country. Washington State is a hothouse of cideries and is globally known as the apple capiial of the world. We have done this event twice now and Ciderhouses are now asking WindFall if they may attend. Musicians are asking WindFall how they can get a chance on the stage. Community members are asking how they can get involved. We are fortunate to work with veteran music festival producers, Chinook Entertainment, and add the Chinook "Where Great Music Meets the Great Outdoors" experience to the event. h 2A21 we welcomed bands from across the country: Hardwood Heart from Wyoming. Warren G. Hardings from Alabama, Massy Ferguson from Seatile, McKay & Leigh from Texas, lckes & Hensley from Tennessee, and local Ellensburg band Wavesons. Equal parts craft cider tasting and outdoor concerl, WindFall appeals to a wide, adult audience. Travelers around the state have identified a new destination event where they can "meet in the middle" with friends who live on the opposite end of l- 90. Our 2021 online ticket list is attached. lt tracks about 250 of our guests. We also sold about 300 tickets at the door but square did not track addresses...we'll have to fix that for next year! 25OB ch6racler linril Response 2.2* Application Questions . Part 2 Describe the prior success of your eventlaciivityifacility in attraclioll tourists. We are still collecting our 2021 hotel daia. Our 201 I and 201 I events grew exponentially and we had hoped for a successful 2020 event which was cancelled due to Covid. ln 2021, we required all attendees show proof of vaccination which drastically increased our ticket sales. We had about 500 attendees in 2021 with larger name bands and 10 cider houses. The PNW Cider Girl (a social media influencer) attended this year and promoted the event on social media for us. PNW Axe Throwing was a hugely popular addition to the event, and Ellensburg Hoops also attended adding some flair and uniqueness to the event. Brosky's Food Truck provided food for attendees, and Ellensburg Desserts created unique cider-paired cupcakes for sale at the event. Using Cognito Forms for on-line ticketing, we collect all emails and mailing addresses of all tickets sold on line, and all sales of tickets, gift certificates and promotional give-aways are also added to that database. 2021 attendance data is aitached as an upload. ln addition, we have day-of ticket sales purchased at the window. But square does not capiure addresses, so we'll have to work on that for next year. We have about 300 day-of ticket sales. ln 2019 Cider houses requested hotel information and camping informalion. adding at least ten rooms for the weekend that we are aware of. We also reserve four rooms for the bands for one night each. This year we had 4 RV overnights representing about 14 people, and 2 tents with 5 people staying on site. Ticket sales to out of area visitors (50 miles or more) are estimated to be 213 of total ticket sales based on previous years. ln 2021 we had 500 guests and 60% of them were from more than 50 miles away. 2500 character linit 3l lmpact Response 3: Measuring Results* Describe holv you vrill p, omole your eventlaclivlly;facility to attraci tourists. We will again use diverse marketing methods to achieve widespread print, digital, radio advertising targeted to our audience . ln 2021, we added The Stranger Cherry Creek Media, and the Fair Guide to our advedising. We will work closely again with Chinook Entertainment to schedule big name bands coming from outside the immediate region AND who have a following that will travel Ther 2022 proposal is aitached. Bands with good marketing and loyal audience will be given preference over others. We have two local Kittitas County cider houses. Cideries with established clientele and followers will have a higher priority than those with little or no marketing ability or fan base. Having cideries from out of state proved to be problematic due to the nature of WSLCB, but having vendors from Spokane, TriCities. the Olympic Peninsula, and around the state will happen again. Our partnership wilh Sip NorthWest and CiderCraft magazines targets a very wide area (entire west coast) but the publlcatrons are selective as to audience. Their subscribers are mostly in Washington, but are affluent tourlsts - craft beverage tourists. Their prini magazines are widely distributed. heavily along the l-5 conidor from Portland to Bellingham, in high end hotels, restaurants, winerys, breweries, etc. and their digital presence is far wider. Their goal is to sell the whole nodhwest as a craft beverage vacation destination. They will provide data to us regarding location of interested people (that click through to our website) at the conclusion of this year"s advertising plan. Facebook and lnstagram advertising on our WindFall sites will again be utilized. We have excellent response rates to those ads. Keeping great musicians is critical, and balancing what's affordable with what's exciting and attractive to ticket buyers, will continue to be something that we monitor closely. We also plan to build ihe partnership with Chinook Entertainment so that one day the partnership has them paying for the talent and KEEN can focus on other elements of the event. CiderCraft/Sip and NW Cider Association have both indicated thal they would support (sponso| a juriedlcompetitive program, which would attract the very highest quality products fiom around the State. Many of them now have WindFall on their radar as having a capable team with good suppo( from the EllensburglKittitas County community. There are several connections which have been identified that we will strengthen in the next planning process, and be able to take advantage of with more time and organization. But interest has been documented and the willingness of people to step out for such a memory-making getaway event is proven. Attached is Chinook Enteriainment's proposal for 2022. This event is designed to highlight the agricultural environment that is not only Kittitas County bul all of Central Washington. lt draws attention to smaller family farms, and the increasingly diverse ways that our rural nature is sustained by producing orchard commodities in a newer ways (that are actually really old). Cider is indeed trending, with a growing audience who support the market because they like the flavor: they like the variety of flavors, lhey like that it's locally made; they like that small orchards are getting a new lease on life; they like a frosty adult beverage on a hot day (and they're maybe a little tired of bee|; they are avoiding gluten: they are focused on buying organic/local; they want to try making it themselves: they want to share it with oihers. The music has also proven to be a great draw Roots Music across the region continues to have a loyal audience. and in fact. attendance at Chinook Entertainment festivals is increasing although their 2020 event was cancelled due to covid and 2021 was cancelled due to fires nearby their location. 2500 character linrit SUppOfting DOCUmentS You may uploacl any sufiportrnq docunrents such as qraphs inrages. diaaranrs. nrarkelirq rnaterials elc. 2A22Windfall Cider Proposal_Option A.pdf 159.69K8 WindFall Cider Fest Registration 2021 - Online Sales 156.22K8 Only.pdf You are allolved to stbrril up to 3 silgle paqe iUS I etler) docurnenls ir.lPG.
