02/22/2022 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON AUDITORIUM/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING MONDAY 8:00 A.M. FEBRUARY 22, 2022 Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chair Cory Wright; and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith. Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Taylor Crouch, Administrative Assistant; Chris Horner, Deputy Prosecutor; Jan McElroy, Legal Process Assistant III; Karen Bowen, Administrative Supervisor; Jim Goeben, IT Director; Sarah Keith, Superior Court Administrator; Amy Cziske, Treasurer; Kristine Foreman, Human Resource Director; and 3 members of the public. SPECIAL MEETING APPOINTMENT ACTING COUNTY CLERK COMMISSIONERS At 8:00 a.m. Chairman Osiadacz called a Special meeting to order to consider an emergency appointment for an acting Superior Court Clerk. Chairman Osiadacz explained she had received a letter of resignation from Val Barschaw, former Clerk of the Superior Court, notifying her she would be resigning from her position due to personal reasons, effective February 22, 2022, at midnight. The Prosecutor’s office advised the County Commissioners that they needed to make an emergency appointment to fill the interim position so they can continue to conduct business. The next step is to have the Republican Party submit 3 names to the County Commissioners for consideration of appointment, and at which time they will select one of those to fill the position until the General Election has been certified. APPOINTMENT APPOINTMENT ACTING COUNTY CLERK COMMISSIONERS Commissioner Wright moved to appoint Karen Bowen to serve as the interim Superior Court Clerk. Commissioner Wachsmith seconded.
