STATE OF WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2022-
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE WRITE-OFF OF UNCOLLECTIBLE DEBTS TOTALING
$30,644.55 PAYABLE TO THE KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Jail is generally responsible for emergency or
necessary health care for inmates pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(2); and
WHEREAS, the collection of payment for such treatment from inmates is allowed
pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(5); and
WHEREAS, RCW 4.16.040(2) provides a six (6) year statute of limitation for actions
which are based upon accounts receivable resulting from the ordinary course of
business; and
WHEREAS, the Jail Superintendent has been working to address aspects of Jail
records and operations that were previously neglected; and
WHEREAS, as a consequence, substantial amounts of uncollectable debt have
been discovered; and
WHEREAS, the write-off of uncollectible accounts is fiscally responsible and
necessary to provide an accurate measure of Kittitas County's financial position; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND 1T IS HEREBY ORDERED, by the
Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington, that the uncollectible Jail
medical costs as listed on Exhibit A, attached hereto, are hereby determined to be
uncollectible and are written off from the accounts of Kittitas County.
A. Kittitas County Sheriffs Office uncollectible Jail medical costs from January 1, 2015
to December 31, 2015.
