KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 1, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the <br />Chair’s signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid <br />Project Prospectus for Bridge Rail Improvements <br />Phase 1, CRP 314-21 <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive <br />$664,000 from the Highway Safety Improvement <br />Program (HSIP) for Bridge Rail Improvements, <br />Phase 1, in Kittitas County Road Maintenance <br />Districts A-F. This project will install bridge rail, <br />approaches, and terminals on bridges with wooden <br />non-standard bridge rail and/or no existing bridge <br />rail at locations. This project is the first phase to <br />address this type of non-standard rail. HSIP funding <br />is through the Washington State Department of <br />Transportation (WSDOT) Local Programs Office <br />and requires approval for each phase of the project. <br /> <br />This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding <br />for the preliminary engineering phase which is <br />estimated at $63,000.00. <br /> <br />Public Works is preparing to begin this work with <br />County staff upon obligation of funds. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair’s <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Bridge Rail Improvements Phase <br />1, CRP 314-21. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return two (2) original to Public Works <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer
