01/13/2022 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. JANUARY 13, 2022 <br />Board members present: Vice Chair Cory Wright, and Commissioner <br />Brett Wachsmith. Excused: Chairman Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Taylor Crouch, Administrative Assistant; Carly Brettmann, <br />Communications Director; Mark Cook, Public Works Director; Darren <br />Higashiyama, Chief Deputy and Amy McGuffin, Kittitas County Chamber <br />of Commerce, Executive Director. <br /> SPECIAL MEETING CHAMBER ADO DELIVERABLES COMMISSIONERS <br />At 9:00 a.m. Vice-Chair Wright opened a Special Meeting to discuss <br />and consider Kittitas County Chamber ADO deliverables. <br /> <br />Amy McGuffin, Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, Executive <br />Director reviewed 2021 end of year Recruiting and Marketing <br />Activities; Business Retention and Expansion Activities; Business <br />Assistance Including Start-Ups; Readiness and Capacity/Asset <br />Building; the number of members of the Kittitas County Chamber of <br />Commerce; and the analytics from their newsletter, websites, and <br />social media platforms. She discussed business support systems in <br />place at the County. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />The Board received an update on the extreme weather conditions last <br />week. Director Cook and Chief Deputy Higashiyama explained a <br />situation they were responding to in Hyak. The City of Cle Elum will <br />be picking up sandbags from Public Works. There was a discussion on <br />county roads, state roads, privately owned roads and how Public <br />Works can only operate on county roads. <br /> <br />There was discussion around a media strategy resulting from a press <br />release done 1/12/22 regarding WSDOT. Chairman Osiadacz will be the <br />media spokesperson from the BOCC on this issue. It was decided that <br />this topic should remain in regional media and not expand into the <br />national landscape. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:03 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
