For one exciting day, buildings spring to life with Junk-tiquen in the Burg's vintage
market. Junk{iquen invites crowds to peruse and shop up-cycled and re-purposed
decor, lurniture and accessories. Vendors roll into town fronr all corners of the
Pacific Northwest, from the southernmost tip of Oregon to small towns in ldaho and
everythrng in between. Vintage markets are extremely popular across America and
have a very large following. Shoppers will travel miles and miles to catch the next
great showl
Ellensburg's centralized location in Washington encourages visitors to travel from all
corners of the state. Every year, hundreds of new Junktiquers travel to Ellensburg,
and many people plan girls'weekends and family vacations around the event. The
audience I am targeting is ages 18 to 80 and everything in between. The structure of
the show reaches various ages with the different types of items offered. Solne
shoppers may like the true antiques while other shoppers may prefer more of the re-
purposed items such as jewelry ntade from vtniage spoons. plants planted in a
vintage tin or up-cycled furniture- There are lots of amazing one of a kind finds to
see and shop.

Descriile the prior success af your event,laclivity/tacility in attractian to{rists.
The show has been foriunate to have shoppers and vendors from not only all over
Washington State, bui out of state as well. Surveys are collected to help track where
the shoppers and vendors are coming from and over 47o/o of my attendees are
tourists coming from more than 50 miles away.
. 11% of ihem stayed in overnight paid accommodations
. 37ok came for the day or stayed in other accommodaiions.
Survey results reflected, my attendees range from age 20 and under to 60 plus, with
the majority being female. A lot of them heard of the show lhrough Facebook and
advertising in their areas through other media such as: television, newspaper and
magazine ads. Marketing is focused on areas over 50 miles away and the surveys
help track to see if marketirrg is working. The survey results do reflect ihat marketing
dollars spent are helping- The numbers reflected an increase in areas we pushed
rnarketing.
I have learned that less than 1 % of those surveyed are coming fiom out of State or
Country. Although I haven't been able to attract more than 1%, I am continuing to
grow my event by the funding received. I am hoping that with my digital presence
and new padnerships that I can increase this particular aitendee. I will dedicate a
percentage of my advertising to draw more from out of State or Country.

Ellensburg's centralized location in Washington encourages visitors to travel from all
corners of the state. Target marketing will assure I am attracting tourists from at least
50 nriles away. Market'ng advertising money will be used in the SeattlelPortland
market as well as Canada and Central Washington area including Wenatchee,
Moses Lake and Tri-Ciiies to name a few.
Not only do shoppers come from all over, bui vendors do as well. with places like
Sandpoint lD., Hermiston. OR., Waterville. Moses Lake, Puyallup, Edmonds.
Spokane and more. These vendors all have their own following of fans which will
travel to catch them at their next show.
Marketing is the key strategy to promoting the entire County. Junk-tiquen's website
and social nredia will like and share the tourism campaigns of Ellensburg, CleElum
and the County. There are links to accommodation locations, dining and events
county-wide on the Junk-tiquen website. I will cross promote by partnering with
fellow events.
I plan on advertising and using the money in the Seattle/Portland market as well as
Canada and Central Washington area including Wenatchee, Moses Lake and Tri-
Cities to name a few. I will be using the funds in various media areas such as online
marketing to include some of the following channels:

Future Plans *The plans to allow this event to become self-sustaining are investing profits back
into future shows, evaluating vendor and gate fees and adjusting where needed to
offset expenses and continued collaboration with other events and activities for
cross promoting. With both shows now being over 4 years, I arn looking ahead and
evaluating ways to become self-sustaining- I am also evaluating ways of cost
recovery for future, in the event current facilities become out of budget wjth the

COVID-1 I lnf0rmation lf you hacj a planned event in 2020 or 2021. whetirer they were able to take place or not. please describe any
successes and challenges yoil experienced.
Due to COVID, the shows were unfortunately cancelled for all of 2020 and spring of
2021. We have not yet held the fall show tor 2021 , but it will be happening October
.16th.
COVID has created a huge challenge to work through this past year and a half. We
have had to work to accommodate changes that would allow the show to open again
and keep shoppers and vendors safe. ln order to maximize safety and spread things
out, the show has adjusted it's location for the fall show to a very large open-air
building on the grounds.
2500 cha.acter lirnit
Additional lnformation ln 2018, National magazine, Flea Market Gardens, named the show as one of
readers' top choice vintage shows to attend. In 20'17, Junk-tiquen in ihe Burg was
named one of ihe 12 top vintage markeis in the United States as a musi attend
show by National magazine, Flea Market Decor'.
Junktiquen in the Burg is gaining a large following of both shoppers and vendors.
Vendors spaces aie maxed out with a waiting list and the number of shoppers
continues to grow. With COVID hitting, this does set the event momentum back
some.Since we have had to cancel the past 3 shows due to COVID, we are
anticipating at least a 25% drop in attendance. We anticipate the momentum we had
going will have slowed and will need to do work to get it back. ln addition to
adjusting our attendee numbers, we are also anticipating in our budget the costs of
items being higher as we are currently seeing higher prices. We are also now adding
lhings such as PPE that were not typically purchased prior The grant funding would
be a huge assistance in helping get the moment going again.
Receiving this grant will allow me to build on this and continue to advertise to
markets outside of the County and State, drawing more shoppers and vendors from
out of the area. More out of State and Country shoppers will increase the likelihood
of overnight stays and all shoppers and vendors will increase ancillary spending in
the County as well as enhance the quality ofthe show for our county residence.

Please explain.
We track using direct count for attendees and vendors. Various informal surveys are
taken which allows me to track what percentage of attendees and vendors are from
over 50 miles away and are staying the night. The percentage is then applied to the
direct count to provide me with the structured estimate of how many attendees and
vendors siayed the night.
