AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: January 18, 2022
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to establish
County Road Project (CRP) number supporting
Bridge Rail Improvements.
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive
$664,000 from the Highway Safety Improvement
Program (HSIP) for Bridge Rail Improvements,
Phase 1, in Kittitas County Road Maintenance
Districts A -F.
This project will install bridge rail, approaches, and
terminals on bridges with wooden non-standard
bridge rail and/or no existing bridge rail at
locations. This project is the first phase to address
this type of non-standard rail. HSIP funding is
through the Washington State Department of
Transportation (WSDOT). The award does not
require matching local funds if the project is
obligated by September of 2022. By beginning now,
we anticipate being able to meet the requirements
for obligating federal funds.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to establish County Road
Project (CRP) number supporting Bridge Rail
Improvements.

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF KITTITAS COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON, in the matter
of initiating a county road project designated as:
CRP NO: 314-21 JOB NO: RC2199
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Bridge Rail Improvements Phase 1
The project will install bridge rail, approaches, and terminals on bridges with wooden non-standard bridge rail and/or no
existing bridge rail at various locations within Kittitas County road maintenance district A -F.

This project is hereby declared to be a public necessity and the County Engineer is hereby ordered and authorized to report and
proceed thereon as by law provided. (RCW 36.75.050, 36.80.030, 36.80.070).
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the County
Engineers estimate, is hereby made in the amounts and for the purposes shown:
