KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: January 18, 2022 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to establish <br />County Road Project (CRP) number supporting <br />Bridge Rail Improvements. <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive <br />$664,000 from the Highway Safety Improvement <br />Program (HSIP) for Bridge Rail Improvements, <br />Phase 1, in Kittitas County Road Maintenance <br />Districts A -F. <br />This project will install bridge rail, approaches, and <br />terminals on bridges with wooden non-standard <br />bridge rail and/or no existing bridge rail at <br />locations. This project is the first phase to address <br />this type of non-standard rail. HSIP funding is <br />through the Washington State Department of <br />Transportation (WSDOT). The award does not <br />require matching local funds if the project is <br />obligated by September of 2022. By beginning now, <br />we anticipate being able to meet the requirements <br />for obligating federal funds. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to establish County Road <br />Project (CRP) number supporting Bridge Rail <br />Improvements. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer <br />
