COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX EMERGENCY SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 4:00 P.M. JANUARY 6, 2022
Board members present via Webex: Chairman Laura Osiadacz; Vice-
Chairman Cory Wright; and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith.
Others via Webex: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Patti Stacey,
Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance Director/Project Manager;
Katrina Mankus, Juvenile Court Administrator; Kristin Foreman, Human
Resource Director; Josh Fredrickson, Engineer; Candie Leader,
Administrative Supervisor; Sarah Keith, Superior Court
Administrator; Dan Carlson, CDS Director; Tristin Lamb, Public
Health Director; Val Barschaw, Clerk; Mark Cook, Public Works
Director; Diana MacKenzie, Upper District Court Administrator; Chris
Whitsett, Inspector; Darren Higashiyama, Chief Deputy; Cori McKean,

Administrator; Toni Berkshire, Code Enforcement Officer; and 7
members of the public.
EMERGENCY SPECIAL OFFICE CLOSURES–INCLEMENT WEATHER COMMISSIONERS
At 4:00 p.m. Chairman Osiadacz opened an Emergency Special Meeting
to obtain updates relating to the inclement weather and whether
County offices should close on January 7, 2022.
Chairman Osiadacz felt after obtaining an update from Patti Stacey,
Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance Director/Project Manager,
it would be best to close County facilities on Friday January 7,
2022. Commissioner Wright agreed it would allow additional time to
continue to plow, shovel walkways & entryways, and get the buildings
ready for employees and customers. Josh Fredrickson, Engineer,
provided an update on the County roads and said they have concerns
about possible flooding and will be watching the forecast. Darren
Higashiyama, Chief Deputy, provided an update and said the hospital
is currently on crisis care and they are also watching the forecast
for possible flooding. Patti Stacey, Solid Waste Director/Interim
Maintenance Director/Project Manager, said they could use some
assistance shoveling entrances to County buildings, and she would
work with Carly Brettmann, Communications Director, and Commissioner
Wright to compose a message requesting help.
The Board agreed to close County offices on Friday January 7, 2022,
due to the inclement weather, and to have Chairman Osiadacz send an
email out to all employees notifying them. Employees are to use the

code 22 in Novatime for payroll, which was provided by the Auditors
office.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:17 p.m.
