COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
WEBEX/CONF. ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:00 A.M. JANUARY 3, 2022
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith. Virtual: Vice-
Chairman Laura Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Administrative Supervisor; Julie Kjorsvik,
Clerk of the Board; Carly Brettmann, Communications Director; Clay
Myers, Sheriff; Taylor Crouch, Admin Assistant; Jerry Pettit, County
Auditor; Patti Stacey, Solid Waste Director/Maintenance Director;
Kady Porterfield, KVEC Director.
SPECIAL MEETING OFFICE STAFF MEETING COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened the Office Administration
meeting.
CALENDAR WEEK AT A GLANCE COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed their weekly calendar.
PAF/VOUCHERS REVIEW OF PAF’S & VOUCHERS COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners approved and signed County
Employee Personnel Action forms and vouchers.
CORRESPONDENCE LOG REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE LOG COMMISSIONERS
There was no correspondence log for review.
UPDATE BLOOM PAVILION PROJECT COMMISSIONERS
Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director and Patti Stacey, Solid
Waste Director/Maintenance Director updated the Board on the cost
changes that are taking place with the Bloom Pavilion Addition
Project. The Board directed Staff to see if there were funds in REET
1 since it’s a capital project or if there is federal funds for it.
They also stated that they would like to get the wash rack done if
possible since they are looking at an Amendment already.
DISCUSSION COUNTY FACEBOOK COMMISSIONERS
Carly Brettman, Communications Director requested the Board consider
a General Facebook page for the County so that not all information
was going out from the BoCC and instead a General page. She stated
that there are some topics where it could be beneficial to have them

not come from the BoCC page etc. She stated that she met with IT and
has a form ready for them if they are comfortable with that
direction. The Board was in support of that and thought they should
do some announcements to get the word out that this would be the new
central location information for the County .
CONSIDER APPOINT/REAPPOINT 2022 COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Osiadacz moved to appoint/reappoint the following
members:
Reappointment of Kristina Paquette, for a 3 year term to the
Kittitas County Fair Board effective immediately and to expire
12/31/2024.
Reappointment of Scott Nicolai to the Kittitas County Flood Control
Zone District Board for a 2 year term effective immediately and to
expire on 12/31/2023.
Commissioner Wright seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
EXECUTIVE SESSION COMMISSIONERS
BoCC determined they didn’t need the meeting any longer.
UPDATE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR COMMISSIONERS
Carly Brettmann, Communications Director provided updates and
received recommendations from the Board on what they felt was a
priority focus for her. The Board discussed Facebook posts for the
week they wanted to be published.
UPDATE BOCC/ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS COMMISSIONERS
Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to
meet with on a weekly basis. The assignments for 2021 were
determined at the Board of County Commissioners Office Admin meeting
on 1-11-2021.
Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their respective
departments and exchanged details of those meetings.
OTHER BUSINESS/GENERAL UPDATES
There were general updates on meetings & conversations that the
Board participated in, individually over the past week.

Commissioner Osiadacz asked that the letter from 11/22/2021
regarding the explanation of the benefits shift for 2022 go out
ASAP. Commissioner Wright agreed that in needed to be sent out.
The Board discussed that they would like to see a shift in Mr.
Backlunds focus to the County Management Team with one meeting a
month with the Board. They stated that they plan to update him on
Wednesday during their Special Meeting.
