KITTITAS COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA STAFF REPORT

AGENDA DATE:
December 21, 2021

ACTION REQUESTED:
Request to Approve Amendment A to Contract 2020-2023 Shelter in Place
SR between Kittitas County and HopeSource

BACKGROUND:
Kittitas County applied through the Department of Commerce, Community Services and
Housing Division Housing Assistance Unit for the Shelter Program. The Shelter Program
Grant is funded by the Home Security Fund as appropriated by the Legislature. The Shelter
Program Grant funds equitable and creative approaches to develop or expand shelter
programs and bring people inside with the goal of exiting participants to permanent housing
and positive destinations quickly.
Programs enact strategies to ensure racially equitable access and racially equitable
outcomes at shelter exit, provide outreach to unsheltered individuals and provide housing
stability focused services.
The grant was awarded based upon the application submitted for HopeSource to provide
the services. This contract is for HopeSource to provide the services as awarded from
August 1, 2020, through June 30, 2023 in the amount of $246,846.

The original application was for 10 approved bed spaces, and HopeSource is requesting
that it be increased to 18 beds. Commerce has approved and an amendment to the contract
is going through the process.
