City of Ellensburg supporting Brick Rd Improvements, and
$747,108.00 to the City of Cle Elum supporting the First Street Phase
3B project.
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Public Works has obligation authority from
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to manage
the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds as a County
Lead Agency. Funding is typically allocated on a three-year cycle (FY
22-25) with a call for projects to eligible agencies, and then
monitoring progress to ensure obligation of awarded funds within the
allocated time frame. A recent call for projects was made to
qualifying agencies in the County. Four (4) applications were
received, one (1) from the City of Ellensburg, two (2) from the City of
Cle Elum, and one (1) from Kittitas County Public Works. A
technical advisory committee comprised of City of Ellensburg staff
and Kittitas County Public Works staff reviewed; scored, ranked, and
met to recommend awarding funds.
Kittitas County requested $870,000.00 to support the construction of
Vantage Hwy over Cascade Canal Bridge (No. 89342). The proposed
project will replace the damaged and load restricted bridge at milepost
5.25 Vantage Hwy. The existing structure will be replaced with a new
bridge, guardrail, and approaches. The roadway will be repaved, and
shoulders reconstructed, to meet current WSDOT standards and
specifications.
The City of Ellensburg requested $1,284,000.00 to support
construction of Brick Rd Improvements from Radio Rd to the
northern city limits. The proposed project will include roadway
widening and overlaying of the existing roadway to maintain the
existing two lanes of travel and will include the installation of
curb/gutter, stormwater facilities, illumination, and other
improvements.
The City of Cle Elum requested $747,108.00 to support construction
of the First Street Downtown Revitalization — Phase 3B. Beginning in
2017, the city has been implementing a phased approach to a
downtown revitalization effort to enhance the appearance of, increase
economic growth and vitality, and create a safe multimodal
streetscape. Previous improvements include stormwater, sidewalk,
and roadway improvements.
Additionally, the City of Cle Elum requested $637,808.00 to support
construction of the First Street and Pine Street Signalization. The
project proposes constructing a 4 -way signalized stop at the
intersection of First Street and Pine Street in Cle Elum.

the City of Cle Elum. The technical advisory committee does not
