COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON AUDITORIUM/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. NOVEMBER 2, 2021
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Ken Grannan, Airport
Director; David Welz, Administrative Assistant; Neil Caulkins,
Deputy Prosecutor; and Carly Brettmann, Communications Director.
Per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 20-28 et seq., the public was
encouraged to join the meeting virtually or in person.
PUBLIC HEARING AGRICULTURAL LEASES AIRPORT
At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN BRETT WACHSMITH opened a Public Hearing to
consider Agricultural Leases at the Bowers Field Industrial and
Airport Area for Tracts 1-6.
KEN GRANNAN, AIRPORT DIRECTOR reviewed a Staff Report. He said the
proposed Leases had been previously approved however, there were
changes to the ones with Mr. Victor Strand. He said Kittitas County
is currently evaluating use of the subject land and it may be
determined a higher and better use for the property and there are
current airport environmental and flood management projects which
may take place during the term of the lease. He said there was an
option for Mr. Strand to get out of the leases with written notice
due to any unknown impacts from the flood management projects.
THERE BEING NO PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED.
RESOLUTION 2021-162 AGRICULTURAL LEASES AIRPORT VICE-CHAIRMAN OSIADACZ moved to approve Resolution No. 2021-162,
Authorizing Ag Leases at the Bowers Field Industrial and Airport
Area for Tracts 1–6. COMMISSIONER WRIGHT seconded. Motion carried 3-
0.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:04 p.m.
