KITTITAS COUNTY <br />AIRPORT DEPARTMENT <br />October 19, 2021 AGENDA <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: October 19, 2021 CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: REQUEST TO SET PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER <br />NEW AGRICULTURAL LEASES FOR BOWERS FIELD AIRPORT. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Bowers Field Airport has, for the past 30+ years, leased <br />unused lands surrounding the Airport for Agricultural use. <br />There are currently seven (7) tracts, approximately 800 <br />acres of agricultural airport property under lease. The <br />current lease terms are ending November 30, 2021. Tract <br />seven will no longer be leased due to wetland mitigation. <br />The Airport recently placed Tracts 1 through 6 out for bid <br />and have received several qualified bids and wishes to enter <br />into a lease with the winning bidders. <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: The current agricultural leases, which end on 11/30/2021, <br />were awarded at an average of $48 per acre. The new leases <br />will be awarded at average of $52 per acre and will be for a <br />term lasting five (5) years. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: BoCC, Prosecutors Office. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set public hearing concerning Agricultural Leases for <br />November 2nd, at 2pm. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one original to the Airport. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Ken Grannan <br />Airport Director
