COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON KVEC ARMORY/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 8:00 A.M. JULY 22, 2021

Administrative Assistant. SPECIAL MEETING BUDGET RETREAT COMMISSIONERS
At 8:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting for the
annual budget retreat and provided an opening statement. He also
thanked Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager for all of her hard
work and dedication to the budget process over the years, noting she
was going to retire at the end of December 2021.

Commissioner Wright said the Board had been meeting with Phil
Backlund and he reviewed a list of the Commissioners goals and
priorities for 2022 and beyond.
Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Manager reviewed the financial reports
as well as budget dates, American Rescue Funds, as well as budget
training.
Patti Stacey, Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance
Director/Project Manager reviewed County projects and reported on
the new Courthouse Committee. Mark Cook, Public Works Director
reviewed both current and future Public Works projects.
Individual departments provided a presentation on their current
budget issues, new legislation or requirements, and any anticipated
budget increases for the next two years.
There was a lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lisa Young, Human Resource Director provided an update on medical
insurance and proposed increases based on experience rating, which
is not looking good at this point. She said she would have more
definitive information within the next couple of months.
Commissioner Osiadacz asked if anyone had ideas on areas the Board
could improve on. She also requested any comments on ways to handle
the significant increase in recreation/tourism in Kittitas County.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
