COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. JUNE 10, 2021
Board members present via Webex: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-
Chairman Laura Osiadacz, and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others via Webex: Taylor Crouch, Administrative Assistant; Julie
Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Tristen Lamb, Public Health
Administrator; Lisa Young, HR Director; Darren Higashiyama, Chief
Deputy; Patti Stacey, Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance
Director/Project Manager; Chelsey Loeffers, Health Promotion
Supervisor; and one member of the public. SPECIAL MEETING IMT UPDATE COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to get an
update from the IMT and to discuss the Declaration of Emergency.
Tristen Lamb, Public Health Administrator discussed with the Board
how the response to COVID-19 is winding down. There was an increase
of 10 FTE Staff this last year directly associated with the
pandemic.
Darren Higashiyama, Chief Deputy stated the Resolution 2020-042 was
the Declaration of Emergency in response to COVID-19, this was
necessary because the pandemic overwhelmed local resources. Local
resources are no longer overwhelmed. The mass vaccination clinic
will have their last day on June 17th, 2021. The IMT is shrinking in
size, all contracts and PSAs are being transferred to Public Health.
There is no longer a need for FEMA funds or supplies. Mr.
Higashiyama recommended to the Board to lift the Declaration of
Emergency on June 21, 2021.
Commissioner Osiadacz asked what was learned through this process.
Mr. Higashiyama stated there would be a lot during the de-activation
process and there would be a full After-Action report prepared.
There were some big wins for the IMT and the County through this
process though. The Board would like to have a meeting to bring all
the key stakeholders together to recognize their efforts.
