COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 3:00 P.M. JUNE 8, 2021
Board members present via Webex: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-
Chairman Laura Osiadacz, and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others via Webex: Taylor Crouch, Administrative Assistant; Mark
Cook, Public Works Director; Clay Myers, Sheriff; Chris Whitsett,
Inspector; Ben Kokjer, Chief Deputy; and 5 members of the public. SPECIAL MEETING MEETING WITH FOREST SERVICE COMMISSIONERS
At 3:00 p.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to discuss
next steps for Travel Management on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National
Forest.
Victoria Wilkins, Public Affairs, USFS initiated introductions from
the Forest Service, and Chairman Wachsmith initiated introductions
from the County.
Sendi Kalcic, Planner, USFS presented to the Board what had been
happening with travel management in the Forest since 2006. Ms.
Wilkins asked the Board what role they wished to play in this
process. Currently they are in the middle of establishing
collaboration with all key stakeholders to the Forest. Commissioner
Osiadacz stated she would like to see road maintenance in the Forest
be distributed between all stakeholders. There needs to be a well
thought out plan in place for the enforcement action on USFS roads
with the different classes of vehicles. Higher traffic areas will
see the most impact. Commissioner Wright asked the USFS to keep the
Public Lands Advisory Committee in the stakeholder list. There was
discussion on how the adoption of the Tourism and Recreation Plan
would impact this area.
