Action Requested:
Request the Board to approve and sign all the agreements (9 total) with agencies
awarded Law & Justice Council Grant Funds for 2021.
Background:
On April 7th, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 2021-048
awarding additional Law & Justice grant funds for 2021.
The following recipients have returned their contracts, which are ready for Board approval
and signature.
The contracts expire October 31, 2021, with all reimbursements submitted by November
27, 2021.
Fiscal Notes
On November 19, 1996, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution
96-178, A Resolution concerning Law & Justice Budget Planning. This resolution
authorizes 10% of the Criminal Justice sales tax to be reserved for Law and Justice
Planning. The Law and Justice grants are awarded to applicants who have
completed grant applications, completed the review process by the Law & Justice
budget committee. The committee forwarded their recommendations to the Board of
County Commissioners, which approve the awarded amounts per Resolution. Once
the Resolution is approved, the Auditor’s office prepares the agreements between
the County and recipients. The balance in this Law & Justice planning account as of
December 31, 2019, is $265,874.22.
Recommendation
Recommend the Board to approve all the agreements (9 total) with recipients for the 2021
Law & Justice Council Grant Funds for $62,562.04.
