CDS STUDY SESSION MINUTES

Regular Meeting
MONDAY 1:30 PM May 24, 2021
Board members present via WebEx: Chairman Brett Wachsmith,
Commissioner Laura Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others via WebEx: Dan Carlson, Community Development Services;
Mark Cook, Joshua Fredrickson, Nicole Ogan, Candie Leader and
Rebecca Cruse, Public Works; Neil Caulkins, Prosecuting
Attorney; and two (2) members of the public.
At 1:40 pm Chairman Wachsmith opened the Community Development
Services Study Session.
APRIL RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PERMIT ACTIVITY
CDS Director Dan Carlson provided Aprils residential building
permit activity presentation. Update provided for permit
submittals and permits issued.
PLANNING COMMISSION BYLAWS UPDATE
CDS Director Dan Carlson provided update on progress of the
Planning Commission. Recommendation from Prosecuting Attorney
Caulkins is to create an ordinance that highlights the history
and includes the bylaws and then brought before the Board of
County Commissioners to approve. CDS Director Carlson shared a
suggestion to meet RCW 36.70.090(2) for a seven -member
commission and how to stagger their terms. Commissioner Wright
questioned why District 1 had three members. Director Carlson
stated there is discussion regarding making one of those an at
large member. The Planning Commission will be making a
recommendation regarding the bylaws to bring back to the Board
of County Commissioners.
