Kittitas County <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br />Agenda Date: <br />May 18, 2021 <br /> <br />Action Requested: <br />Request the Board to approve and sign all the agreements (5 total) with agencies <br />awarded Law & Justice Council Grant Funds for 2021. <br /> <br />Background: <br />On December 1, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 2020- <br />202 awarding the Law & Justice grant funds for 2020. <br /> <br />The following recipients have returned their contracts, which are ready for Board approval <br />and signature. <br /> <br />Agency Award # Total Award <br />RODEO CITY KIWANIS 21-01 $ 3,000.00 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH 21-02 $ 1,990.00 <br />COURT ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN FOR KITTITAS <br />COUNTY 21-02 $ 7,700.00 <br />KITTITAS CO COURTHOUSE SECURITY 21-04 $ 3,617.55 <br />WASHINGTON STATE PATROL 21-05 $ 10,000.00 <br /> <br />The contracts expire October 31, 2021, with all reimbursements submitted by November <br />27, 2021. <br /> <br />Fiscal Notes <br />On November 19, 1996, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution <br />96-178, A Resolution concerning Law & Justice Budget Planning. This resolution <br />authorizes 10% of the Criminal Justice sales tax to be reserved for Law and Justice <br />Planning. The Law and Justice grants are awarded to applicants who have <br />completed grant applications, completed the review process by the Law & Justice <br />budget committee. The committee forwarded their recommendations to the Board of <br />County Commissioners, which approve the awarded amounts per Resolution. Once <br />the Resolution is approved, the Auditor’s office prepares the agreements between <br />the County and recipients. The balance in this Law & Justice planning account as of <br />December 31, 2019, is $265,874.22. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Recommend the Board to approve all the agreements (5 total) with recipients for the 2021 <br />Law & Justice Council Grant Funds for $26,307.55. <br />Handling <br /> Auditor’s office will email to a copy to each agency <br /> <br />Lead Staff <br />Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Manager <br />
