KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA DATE <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />May 18, 2021 <br />Request to Set a Public Hearing for June 1, 2021 at 2:00pm <br />local time to consider the Purchase of Real Property. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works staff has engaged in discussions and secured <br />funding from the Department of Ecology for the purchase <br />of real property within Sec 24 and 25, Township 17N, <br />Range 18E (Parcels K, L, M, N, P, per AFN: <br />202012160060, AND Parcels 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, <br />16, 17, 18, 19, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and R per AFN: <br />200901200068). This acquisition would secure 226.11 <br />acres of land and two associated senior water rights. After <br />acquisition, the land will be managed by the Flood Control <br />Zone District as open space for flood hazard reduction, fish <br />and wildlife enhancement, and agriculture uses. <br />Purchase of this real property is contingent on Kittitas <br />County receiving funding from Ecology for the majority of <br />the total purchase price of the property and the Board of <br />County Commissioners adopting a resolution authorizing <br />the purchase. The Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor has <br />advised that the Board of County Commissioners hold a <br />public hearing to approve the purchase. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for June 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM to <br />consider the Purchase of Real Property and advertise <br />accordingly. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Public Hearing <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas <br />Public Works Water Resource Manager <br />
