KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 20, 2021 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Adopt the presented Records Management Resolution <br />regarding training on Public Records Act requests and <br />Records Management. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Board had previously adopted a resolution at the <br />recommendation of the RMC mandating regular training on <br />these topics as a management tool to maximize <br />performance and minimize liability exposure. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The RMC on its own initiative considered the impact of the <br />current pandemic on the ability to comply with the terms of <br />the previously adopted Resolution. After doing so, assigned <br />counsel for the RMC was directed to draft a proposal that <br />reflects the current circumstances. Given the difficulty of <br />predicting the future ability to conduct training and the <br />possibility of changes in the manner in which the training <br />may be presented, a subsequent resolution will be needed in <br />2022. The current proposed Resolution has been reviewed <br />and approved by the RMC membership. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Review the proposed Resolution and adopt it as written. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT: Proposed Resolution Amending Public Records and <br />Records Management Training Schedule. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Kari Elkins, for the RMC.
