KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA DATE <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />2021 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />April 20, 2021 <br />Request to Approve a Resolution to Adopt the 2021-2023 <br />Road Safety Plan for Kittitas County <br />BACKGROUND: The Washington State Department of Transportation <br />(WSDOT) funnels federal funding for county road safety <br />improvements to local governments and has issued a <br />Highway Safety Improvement Plan (HSIP) "call for <br />projects". Kittitas County has been successful in previous <br />grant years using this program remediating defined hazards <br />on County roadways. The program last funded guardrail <br />replacement on Vantage Highway in conjunction with our <br />pavement improvement. The grant application deadline is <br />Apri130, 2021. Adopting the plan is required prior to grant <br />submittal. The 2021-2023 plan addresses priority <br />intersection and corridor improvements and seeks to begin <br />retrofitting short span bridge rail. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Adopt the Kittitas County Road <br />Safety Plan 2021-2023. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Kittitas County Road Safety Plan 2021-2023 <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
