KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />2021 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: April 20, 2021 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution for Posting Load Limits <br />on Certain County Bridges for Special Haul Vehicles and <br />Emergency Vehicles Authorized in the FAST ACT of 2015 <br />BACKGROUND: On December 4, 2015, Congress authorized the FAST ACT <br />allowing Special Haul Vehicles and Emergency Vehicles <br />access to the Federal Highway System. Local agencies <br />have until 12/31/2021 to complete evaluation of local <br />bridges supporting these heavier axle loads. Public Works <br />recently completed the required analysis (KPFF) and is <br />now required to load limit six County Bridges. The <br />deadline for posting is May 1, 2021. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution directing the required load posting <br />of bridges: 04351, 06251, 78132,79011, 88333 and 89342. <br />Locations are: <br />• Westside Rd over Hiline Canal <br />• Red Bridge Rd over Teanaway River <br />• Canyon Rd over Wilson Creek <br />• No 81 Rd over Cooke Creek <br />• S Thorp Highway over Yakima River <br />• Vantage Hwy over Cascade Canal <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
