KITTITAS COUNTY
EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES
BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG
Regular Meeting
WEDNESDAY 1 10:00 AM I March 10 2021
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith (via Webex), Vice -Chairman Laura
Osiadacz (via Webex)
Others: Event Center Director Kady Porterfield (via Webex), Event Center Program Manager
Lacie Dawson (via Webex)
1. Call to Order: Chairman Wachsmith called the meeting to order at 10:00am
2. General Event and Rental Updates
With the Ag exemption surround COVID-19 event restrictions, we are able to host a dog show in
April/May. They are a long-time client and have booked with us through 2027, so we really
want to be able to host them. Kady is working with Darren to move the COVID clinic for 2 days
to allow for the show. We are also going to be hosting a small wedding per the current
guidelines.
3. Self -Promoted Events Business
The Fair Board is currently working through the restructure of the livestock sale committee and
the planning has been going very well. Kady is coordinating with the Fair Board to work on
plans and modifications for the 2021 Kittitas County Fair.
Kady is also working with our event promoter agent to see what our options are for the Patriot
Night concert. If phase 3 happens, the concert may be able to take place. Kady is still working
on the food and alcohol sales portion to be sure it is financially feasible to have the concert. The
fees for LCB are being waived by the state this year, so that is helpful.
4. Special Projects
The tent bids will be reviewed next week. The cheapest bid met the specs, the more expensive
ones did not.
Kady is working with Dan Morgan on the Rodeo Board's punch list. New logs for the Western
Village gates have been located. KVEC will supply the labor to install them, the Rodeo Board
will cover the supplies. The buckaroo stands repairs are to begin Monday.
Chairman Wachsmith asked when Colockum is to be demolished. Per Kady it is scheduled for
early April but is waiting for confirmation from Patti.
2021-03-10 MINUTES
