The Patch, formerly knorivn as Huffman farms, is a u-pick pumpkin patch and family
farm.
We opened our gates in 2012 and have grown each year. We're a multi-faceted
farm offering guests the following activities:
Pick pumpkins straight from the patch
Hayrides
Petting zoo
Kid's play zone
Corn maze
Trike course
Pumpkin patch pool (human billiards)
Pumpkin chucking
Farm fresh concessions
Bake shop
Farm store
We had considerable growth in rnhat we offer as part of the guest experience in
2020. We added a BIGGER better play structure, built "slide mountain" (with a 16
foot tunnel), Talladega trikes, pumpkin patch pool and our Bake Shop and Brevrs.
ln an effort to streamline pricing and control capacity for 2A20, we also introduced
flat rate admission based pricing. This will equate to an easier buying eryerience
for the guest, addiiional revenue for us and higher admission tax revenue for the
county.
At The Patch, u,e believe it's not just about the pumpkin, but the eperience. So,
our focus is creating a place for families to come and create memories. As of 2020,
\ffe are the only taiirrking farm in the county, offering a full agritourism eperience.
We also offer fun and educational field trips and private rentals. And, ue hope to
growin 2021 with extended dayslhours and offerings, including Airbnb farmstays.

2l Supporting Kittitas County as a tourism destination.
1 . Ataay from their place of residence or business and staying overnight in paid accommodations;
2. To a place fifty miles or nrore a\,ay from their place of residence or business for the day or staying overnight;
3. or from another country or state outside of their place of residence or business.
You must provide lhe evidence utilized in determining your projections.
Response 2.1 *l,ifry lvoukl iourists travello l{tlitas CDUnty to attend youl evaruactivitylfacility?
First, trve believe that or'rr location is appealing to tourists. While fall weather on the
lvestside usually brings rain and muddy corn mazes, we typically continue to have
sunny, blue sky days at the patch. And, wiren talking with guests, this is often a
factor in deciding to make the trek over the pass.
Second, we are the only working family farm in the county that offers a full, hands-
on fall eperience. While there are other "pumpkin patches" in the county, we are
the only working farm, which simply brings with it a very different experience. The
fastest growing segment within the tourism industry is the experiential segment.
Americans are further removed from farming than ever before, with most families
being removed by five generations or more. The faster the rat race in the urban
areas becomes, the nrore appealing a visit dowrr on the farm becomes.
Third, tae don't have the crorirds. We are nrembers of both a PNW agritourism
group, as uaell as a national group. And, the numbers these farms eperience are
slaggering. Farms on the uestside can easily see 50,000+ people in October. This
leads to parking issues, long lines, r,mii times, limited food options, restricted
activity access and more. Many of our guests tell us they come over for the day, or
the weekend simply to avoid the crouds.
Fourth, ue're not just pumpkins, we're eryeriences. We create a well-rounded
e4oerience that gives people a reason to get in their cars and come. We offer
pumpkins straight off the vine, safe play spaces, creative activities, farnr fresh food,
shopping and more.
Finally, it's a thingl Hallorneen is the second largest grossing holiday behind
Christmas. And, pumpkin patches have their or.rn "cult following" of sorts. People
will travel near-and-far for a newand genuine patch experience. And, just like you
have people who have to cut their ornin Christnras tree each year.. .or people who
\ ould absolutely die if they had to have an artificial tree, you lrave folks w,ho have
to go straight to the patch!

Application Questions: Part 2
Dasoribe the trxior success of ycur evenf/activily/facility in attraction tourists.
The 2021 season will be our 9th season. We have grown from a one-day festival
held in our front yard, to a full fall eperience on our 36-acre farm. Our first year,
ue sawB00 guests. Nowin our 8th year, rrr,e are expecting to see 10,000. And,
\ €'ve gro!1rl these numbers largely by attracting tourists. While our offering the first
few years were small. so \fiere our tourist numbers, stariing at just 19%. However,
as we have grou/n the overall guest e4cerience, vve have gro\tn our tourist numbers
to 38%. This has been determined through both on-site guest intervie\6 as well as
surveys, which will be explained in detail later in the application.
Year-over-year rle also see a lot of repeat guests. Given the "tradition" nature of
this event. people come back time and time again as a matter of tradition. We've
also noticed that there are a lot of families using us as a "meet in the middle"
e>perience for families who are on both sides of the state.
Finally, uie believe that given our current state of affairs in 2020, r,re will see a lot of
new oui of county folks this year. Whether folks are coming from counties operatrng
in just Phase 1 or 2, they want to escape the bigger crouds, or their events have
been cancelled - ue think we'll see a considerable uptick. And, that said, ure think
rrue'll be able to retain a portion of those guests.

Measuring Results*
Application Questions: Part 3
D:scrih,c how you will pronnte yor jr evenyaclivilylfacility to attract tourists,
First, ue go to rdrere lhe tourists already are, For example, we buy ad space in the
upper county visitor's guide each year and participate in the Pioneer Days parade
and ancillary events. Here in Ellensburg, \^ie participate in the Labor Day parade.
We feel this helps build brand a\rareness Wth tourists who are already in the
county.
Second, we have a very robust and targeted online ad campaign via Facebook,
lnstagram and Pinterest. We target specific demographics in lp codes from the
Seattle, Bellevue, lssaquah, Snoqualmie Valley, Moses Lake, Yakima and
Wenatchee areas.
Third, when funds have permitted lrre have run targeted TV commercials via Hulu,
in the same targeted lp codes listed above.
Fourth, M,e utilize radio in the greater Douglas, Chelan arrd Grant county areas
Finally, we use any and all free resources that are available and make sense. This
year that included 29 online community calendars and local online boards in other
counties.

4.2 Promoting Local*BUStness
Describe how you will prorcte lodging estallislrrerrts, restaurants. and business located irl Kttitas County
First, ra,e believe that the nature of tourists traveling for a "road trip" or a "day trip",
visit these establishments by default, as that's part of the tourist eperience. And,
this is evident in speaking with our guests, especially those from the westside. We
often hear about lolks stopping at Or €n's or the Cle Elunr Bakery, etc. on the \ /ay
here/tr,hen heading home. As for our staff, v\,e're ahi€ys prepared to offer our
suggestions on guest inquiries (i.e. 509 Bake House for peanut butter cookies,
Easton Bakery for a cinnamon roll the size of yor-rr head, Pioneer Coffee for
caffeine and snacks before getting on the road, etc.) Then, it's a matter of
qualifying people as to rvlrat they're looking for. We always steer people to
Winegars for ice cream for the kids, the Roadhouse for a great family friendly
dinner, C5 for GREAT food and dietary concerns, etc.
Second. we are excited to say that \,e have introduced a newcontest at The Patch
the "Chuck Challenge"l Our pumpkin chucking is a popular activity for the young
and young at heart. The course includes large targets (i.e. different sized tire), as
well as a target board with all different sized holes to aim for. The smallest hole is
being promoted as the ''Chuck Challenge". lf a guest makes it through the hole,
they will win a prize. Prizes will consist of gift certificates to businesses in both ihe
lou,er and upper counties. We'll feature one busirress per ueek, so that any and all
winners that week wculd receive a gift certificate to the same business. We will also
feature that business in our social media promotions. Finally, u,e will promote the
winners and their prizes (i.e. the local businesses). ln an elfort io support oiher
small businesses and help those affected by Covid, we will be purchasing all of our

Finally, in 2019 we began partnering with local businesses to build an "Acme lnc.
Day", structured to fit what they want to be a part of. For example, we hosted
"Evergreen Home Loans Kid's Day" in 2019. They paid for all kid's admission to the
kid's zone that day, making it free to visitors. They also sponsored all hot chocolate
and apple cider drinks for kids and adults alike. ln return. they received great social
media eposure, including paid boosts provided by us. They u,rere also onsite with
banners. signage and small givear,rays.
Unfortunately, 2020 has pr-rshed the "pause" br-rtton on these partnerships this

5l Future Plans
Please explain what plans exist to allow this project to become self-sustaining. lnclude any plans for ticket
sales, event sponsors, and other cost-recovery models.
Future Plans*We will be growing both the overall farm and our fall season festivities. As to the
farm, ue hope to epand our season, io include July and August, offering farm
fresh produce and linrited activities. While this is not part of the funding request, \,e
feel that the more exposurelguest traffic the farm has, the belter it is for our fall
event.
To our fall event itself, ue took a big step this year (2020), introducing paid
admission. We hope that this will generate a more consistent source of revenue.
Going forrrard, we will continue to use paid admission and look at adding a pre-
purchase option, allowing us to plan and execute more efficiently.

We are just days au/ay from opening weekend and we feel like this year will be a
"tipping point" of sorts. We uere able lo make several additions to our activities
lineup, trle epanded our food and beverage offerings and ue streamlined pricing
by rolling out pay one price admission. All of this leads to creating more reasons,
for more people to visit.
And, as mentioned previously, ue believe that Covid will end up benefiting us jn the
long run, as people will be coming from out of the area. Fantilies are also anxious
lo get out and have a slice of normalcy! And, for this reason, ra,e added Hump Days
this year (2020). We've opened on Wednesdays to allowthe over-zoomed kids and
their thinly stretch parents a nrid-raeek break. This is also a day that rrr,e'll see far
fetrier people, making it a better option for people needing more distancing.

Use Form W-9 only if you are a U.S. person (including a resident
alien), to provide your correct TlN.
lf you do not return Form W-9 to the requester with a TlN, you might
be subject to backup withholding. See What is backup withholding,
later.
Cat. No. 10231X rorm W-9 (Rev. 10-2018)
Form W-9 (Rev. 10-2018)Page2
By signing the filled-out form, you:
1. Certify that the TIN you are giving is correct (or you are waiting for a
number to be issued),
2. Certify that you are not subject to backup withholding, or
3. Claim exemption from backup withholding if you are a U.S. exempt
payee. lf applicable, you are also certifying that as a U.S. person, your
allocable share of any partnership income from a U.S. trade or business
is not subject to the withholding tax on foreign partners' share of
effectively connected income, and
4. Certify that FATCA code(s) entered on this form (if any) indicating
that you are exempt from the FATCA reporting, is correct. See Whaf ls
FATCA reporting, later, for further information.
Note: lf you are a U.S. person and a requester gives you a form other
than Form W-9 to request your TlN, you must use the requester's form if
it is substantially similar to this Form W-9.
Definition of a U.S. person. For federal tax purposes, you are
considered a U.S. person if you are:
. An individual who is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien;
. A partnership, corporation, company, or association created or
organized in the United States or under the laws of the United States;
. An estate (other than a foreign estate); or
r A domestic trust (as defined in Regulations section 301 .7701-7).
Special rules for partnerships. Partnerships that conduct a trade or
business in the United States are generally required to pay a withholding
tax under section 1446 on any foreign partners' share of effectively
connected taxable income from such business. Further, in certain cases
where a Form W-9 has not been received, the rules under section 1446
require a partnership to presume that a partner is a foreign person, and
pay the section 1446 withholding tax. Therefore, if you are a U.S. person
that is a partner in a partnership conducting a trade or business in the
United States, provide Form W-9 to the partnership to establish your
U.S. status and avoid section 1446 withholding on your share of
partnership income.
ln the cases below, the following person must give Form W-9 to the
partnership for purposes of establishing its U.S. status and avoiding
withholding on its allocable share of net income from the partnership
conducting a trade or business in the United States.
. ln the case of a disregarded entity with a U.S. owner, the U.S. owner
of the disregarded entity and not the entity;
r ln the case of a grantor trust with a U.S. grantor or other U.S. owner,
generally, the U.S. grantor or other U.S. owner of the grantor trust and
not the trust; and
. ln the case of a U.S. trust (other than a grantor trust), the U.S. trust
(other than a grantor trust) and not the beneficiaries of the trust.
Foreign person. lf you are a foreign person or the U.S. branch of a
foreign bank that has elected to be treated as a U.S. person, do not use
Form W-9. lnstead, use the appropriate Form W-8 or Form 8233 (see
Pub. 51 5, Withholding of Tax on Nonresident Aliens and Foreign
Entities).
Nonresident alien who becomes a resident alien. Generally, only a
nonresident alien individual may use the terms of a tax treaty to reduce
or eliminate U.S. tax on certain types of income. However, most tax
treaties contain a provision known as a "saving clause." Exceptions
specified in the saving clause may permit an exemption from tax to
continue for certain types of income even after the payee has otherwise
become a U.S. resident alien for tax purposes.
lf you are a U.S. resident alien who is relying on an exception
contained in the saving clause of a tax treaty to claim an exemption
from U.S. tax on certain types of income, you must attach a statement
to Form W-9 that specifies the following five items.
1. The treaty country. Generally, this must be the same treaty under
which you claimed exemption from tax as a nonresident alien.
2. The treaty article addressing the income.
3. The article number (or location) in the tax ?eaty that contains the
saving clause and its exceptions.
4. The type and amount of income that qualifies for the exemption
from tax.
5. Sufficient facts to justify the exemption from tax under the terms of
the treaty article.
Example. Article 20 of the U.S.-China income tax treaty allows an
exemption from tax for scholarship income received by a Chinese
student temporarily present in the United States. Under U.S. law, this
student will become a resident alien for tax purposes if his or her stay in
the United States exceeds 5 calendaryears. However, paragraph 2 of
the first Protocol to the U.S.-China treaty (dated April 30, 1984) allows
the provisions of Article 20 to continue to apply even after the Chinese
student becomes a resident alien of the United States. A Chinese
student who qualifies for this exception (under paragraph 2 of the first
protocol) and is relying on this exception to claim an exemption from tax
on his or her scholarship or fellowship income would attach to Form
W-9 a statement that includes the information described above to
support that exemption.
lf you are a nonresident alien or a foreign entity, give the requester the
appropriate completed Form W-8 or Form 8233.
Backup Withholding
What is backup withholding? Persons making certain payments to you
must under certain conditions withhold and pay to the IRS 24Vo of such
payments. This is called "backup withholding." Payments that may be
subject to backup withholding include interest, tax-exempt interest,
dividends, broker and barter exchange transactions, rents, royalties,
nonemployee pay, payments made in settlement of payment card and
third party network transactions, and certain payments from fishing boat
operators. Real estate transactions are not subiect to backup
withholding.
You will not be subject to backup withholding on payments you
receive if you give the requester your correct TlN, make the proper
certificatlons, and report all your taxable interest and dividends on your
tax return.
Paymenis you receive will be subject to backup withholding if:
1. You do not furnish your TIN to the requester,
2. You do not certify your TIN when required (see the instructions for
Part ll for details),
3. The IRS tells the requester that you furnished an incorrect TlN,
4. The IRS tells you that you are subject to backup withholding
because you did not report all your interest and dividends on your tax
return (for reportable interest and dividends only), or
5. You do not certify to the requester that you are not subject to
backup withholding under 4 above (for reportable interest and dividend
accounts opened after 1983 only).
Certain payees and payments are exempt from backup withholding.
See Exempt payee code, later, and the separate lnstructions for the
Requester of Form W-9 for more information.
Also see Special rules for paftnerships, earlier.
What is FATCA Reporting?
The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) requires a
participating foreign financial institution to report all United States
account holders that are specified United States persons. Certain
payees are exempt from FATCA reporting. See Fxemption from FATCA
reporting code, later, and the lnstructions for the Requester of Form
W-9 for more information.
Updating Your lnformation
You must provide updated information to any person to whom you
claimed to be an exempt payee if you are no longer an exempt payee
and anticipate receiving reportable payments in the future from this
person. For example, you may need to provide updated information if
you are a C corporation that elects to be an S corporation, or if you no
longer are tax exempt. ln addition, you must furnish a new Form W-9 if
the name or TIN changes for the account; for example, if the grantor of a
grantor trust dies.
Penalties
Failure to furnish TlN, lf you fail to furnish your correct TIN to a
requester, you are subject to a penalty of $50 for each such failure
unless your failure is due to reasonable cause and not to willful neglect.
Civil penalty for false information with respect to withholding. lf you
make a false statement with no reasonable basis that results in no
backup withholding, you are subject to a $500 penalty.
Form W-9 (Rev. 10-2018)Page 3
Criminal penalty for falsifying information. Willfully falsifying
certifications or affirmations may subject you to criminal penalties
including fines and/or imprisonment.
Misuse of TlNs. lf the requester discloses or uses TlNs in violation of
federal law, the requester may be subject to civil and criminal penalties.
