AGENDA DATE: April 6, 2021
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of
Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff s Office dating from 2012-2014.
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Resolution Number 2004-02 established the civil fee
schedule for the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff and his Fiscal Analyst have recently
reviewed the 2012-2014 civil accounts receivable reports and have found there to be
$1,315.00 in uncollectible debt which meets the statute of limitations and may be written
off.
Per RCW 4.16.040(2) there is a six-year statute of limitations for actions where accounts
such as these resulting from the ordinary course of business are receivable. The write-off
of uncollectible debt is fiscally responsible and necessary to provide an accurate measure
of Kittitas County's financial position.
INTERACTION: This was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County Prosecutor's
Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of
Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office dating from 2012-2014.
