KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 6, 2021 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request Boards approval for Chairs signature on <br />Agreement No. OTGP -2021-KiCoSW-0050 with the <br />Department of Ecology. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Solid Waste Department has received a grant for the <br />Department of Ecology to perform a Feasibility Study into Secondary Recycling Markets. <br />This grant is on one-time grant for $40,000 and is 100 percent reimbursable. These grant <br />funds must be spent by the end on June 2021. <br /> <br />For this grant Kittitas County Solid Waste is partnering with Central Washington <br />University, Yakima County and the Ellensburg Business Development Authority looking <br />at secondary recycling markets with and eye toward a regional comprehensive plan to <br />handle recyclable material and with the possibility of bringing jobs to our area. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Solid Waste Department, and Department of Ecology. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Signature of the Chair. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return two signed copies to the Solid Waste Department. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Agreement No. OTGP-2021-KiCoSW-00050. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Patti Stacey, Solid Waste Director. <br />
