KITTITAS COUNTY <br />LAW AND JUSTICE STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 109 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 1 8:00 AM March 3, 2021 <br />Board members present: Brett Wachsmith Chairman, Commissioners Cory Wright, Laura <br />Osiadacz (via WebEx). <br />Others via WebEx: Sheriff Clay Myers, Greg Zempel, Val Barschaw, Jerry Pettit, Amy Cziske, <br />Steve Panattoni, Judge Ellis, Judge Sparks, Cori McKean. <br />Discussion on adding one I/ 10" Corrections Officer position — Sheriff Myers discussed that last year he <br />requested three full positions and would like to request one position now and phase in an additional later <br />in the year and another one again. This is a part of the 1/10 tax fund and was confirmed by Judy. Sheriff <br />requested to approve additional position for the jail and the Board approved. <br />Infrastructure/Grants/Cascadia Rising -Upper County — Sheriff Myers discussed this statewide project and <br />will be following up with Patty Murray's office to discuss the support of law enforcement and SAR <br />facility in the Upper County as the Sheriff believes there is funding available to help support this project <br />in the Upper County. Commissioner Osiadacz supports this and the Sheriffs Office grant opportunities. <br />Discussion on long-term planning on the impacts of IMT — Sheriff Myers indicated that the County needs <br />to look at temporary measures on how to prepare for long-term, cross train employees, find volunteers, <br />discuss other locations for IMT if needed, as we have protentional for other events. <br />Dr. Larson gave an overview of how we will move forward, phases, and vaccination updates. <br />Sheriff Myers asked that the each elected to speak to their personnel and start identifying training and <br />employees and/or county volunteers.
