KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 16, 2021 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution authorizing execution of an <br />Intergovernmental Agreement with WA State Parks and Recreation Commission and <br />Kittitas County Sheriff's Office to enhance the performance of boating safety and <br />education services in our county. <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office has worked with the Washington <br />State Parks and Recreation Commission for many years. The Boating Safety Program <br />funds are available to assist the Sheriff's Office with local marine law enforcement <br />efforts to reduce the number and severity of recreational boating casualties of all types <br />and ensure a safe and enjoyable boating environment for all users. In exchange for vessel <br />registration fees, KCSO shall furnish marine patrol deputies in support of these goals and <br />certain matching funds as outlined in the agreement. <br />INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed and <br />approved this Intergovernmental Agreement. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve a Resolution authorizing execution of an <br />Intergovernmental Agreement with WA State Parks and Recreation Commission and <br />Kittitas County Sheriff's Office to enhance the performance of boating safety and <br />education services in our county. <br />HANDLING: Please return 1 signed original to KCSO. Sheriff's Office to provide a <br />fully executed Agreement back to the BOCC upon signature by WA State Parks. <br />LEAD STAFF: Command Staff <br />
