The show has been fortunate to have shoppers and vendors from not only all over Washington State, but out of state as vrell. Surveys are collected to help track where the shoppers and vendors are coming from and over 47o/o of my attendees are tourists coming from more than 50 miles araay. Almost 11% of them stayed in overnight paid accommodations and 37o/o came for the day or stayed in other accommodations. Survey results reflected, my atlendees range from age 20 and under to 60 plus with the majority being female. A lot of them heard of the show through Facebook and adverlising in their areas through other media such as: television, ne\#spaper and magalne ads. Marketing is focused on areas over 50 miles away and the surveys help lrack to see if marketing is raorking. lt has been helpful revieWng ihe results of the surveys. I have learned that less than 1% of ihose surveyed are conring from out of State or Country. Although I haven'i been able to attract more than 1%,I am continuing to grow my event by the funding received. I am hoping that $iith my digital presence and new partnerships that lcan increase this particular attendee. lwill dedicate a percentage of nry advertising to draw more from out of State or Country. 2500 character linit 3llmpact Response 3: Measuring Results* Application Questions: Part 3 Describe how you will profitte your evenvactivityffacility to altract tourisls. Various surveys are conducted to help measure the impact of tourism. Each show has conducted surveys capturing information such as: where shoppers come fronr, is this their first time to Ellensburg, did they stay the night and uhat are they doing u,hile in tovrar. Vendors are surveyed on howmany stay the night, what type of lodging and how many nights are stayed. Partnering with the Chamber of Commerce to send an electronic survey to all the followers of the tourism canrpaigns; tracking if they came to the event, did they stay the night, if so vrhere and rahat did they do while in the area. Social media surveys are conducted collecting data on r,vhere people travel from, did they stay the night and what did they do while in town. Ellensburg's centralized localion in Washington encourages visitors to travel from all corners of the state. Target marketing will ensure I am attracting tourists from at least 50 miles away. Marketing advertising money will be used in the Seattle/Portland market as well as Canada and Central Washington area including Wenatchee, Moses Lake and Tri-Cities to name a few. Not only do shoppers come from all over, but vendors do as uell, with places like Sandpoint lD., Hermiston, OR., Waterville, Moses Lake, Puyallup, Edmonds, Spokane and more. These vendors all have their ovrin following of fans which will travel to catch them at their next show Marketing is the key strategy to promoting the entire County. Junk{iquen's website and social media will like and share the tourism campaigns of Kittilas County. There are links to accommodation locations, dining and events county-wide on the Junk- tiquen website. lwill cross promole by partnering with fellow events. I am wrrking together with organizations, groups and events like the Kittilas County Chamber of Commerce, The Patch, Thorp Fruit & Antique Mall, Roses and Rust. The major challenge has been just irying to navigate through the ever-changing environnrent of COVID. Unfortunately, the spring 2020 show vrns not able to be held and the fall show has been cancelled as well. There is also the challenge of marketing money already being spent for 2020 with no income coming back in. One may think it uas a loss wiih advertising already done before COVID hit, but I still see it as a success as it encouraged tourists to check out the r,r,ebsite and social media wlrere tourists can engage and learn about all the great things Kittitas County offers. When things open back up they will be ready to visit. 2500 characler linit Additional lnformation Junk-tiquen in the Burg is gaining a large following of both shoppers and vendors. Vendors spaces are maxed out with a waiting list and the nunrber of shoppers continues to grow. National maga2ne, Flea Market Gardens. named the showas one of readers'top choice vintage shor,m to attend. ln 2017, Junktiquen in the Burg was named one of the 12 top vintage markets in the United States as a must attend show by National magazine, Flea Market Decor'. Receiving this grant will allowme to build on this and continue to advertise to markets outside of the County and State, drawing more shoppers and vendors from out of ihe area. More out of State and Country shoppers will increase the likelihood of overnight stays and all shoppers and vendors will increase ancillary spending in the County as v\€ll as enhance the quality of the show for our county residence- Junk-tiquen was gaining momentum, but with COVID hitting there is uicrry that without enough marketing, the event could see a large reduction. When you have a break in the annual events. it is easier for shoppers io forget about the show so it will be extremely important to have enough advertising for the 2021 year. The grant is a huge part of being able to boast the marketing arrd continue the momentum and success the show has. The marketing budget has been increased from the 2019 year to help keep the 2020 year from having a major impact. The application is submitted as one application, but Junk-tiquen hosts trrc shovrrs a year and though a greal deal of the marketing and costs can cover both shor,vs, there is a great deal of cost that each event date has.
