SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. JANUARY 21, 2021
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-Chair Laura
Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Lisa Young,
Human Resources Director; Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Director;
Clay Myers, Sheriff; Christopher Horner, DPA III; Doug Mitchell, DPA
III; Chris Whitsett, Inspector; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board;
Jerry Pettit, Auditor.
DISCUSSION ADMIN LEAVE COVID – 19 FOLLOW UP COMMISSIONERS
At 9:02 a.m. Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting
as a follow up to the Meeting with the Sheriff from January 13,
2021. She stated that the Board was in receipt of a breakdown from
Deputy Horner that outlined the options, risks and caselaw
pertaining to the request from the Sheriff.
The Board determined after discussion with Staff that they would be
comfortable with the approach that this is a Sheriff’s Policy and if
he wanted to have “Paid Reassignment” to be used not when and
employee is sick, but when an employee must self-isolate due to
exposure risk of COVID-19, that it would be sufficient.
Ms. Young also reviewed that there appears to be a proposal from the
Biden Administration that may allow for federal leave that they can
get reimbursed for.
