01/15/2021 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING FRIDAY 10:30 A.M. JANUARY 15TH, 2021 Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz; and Commissioner Cory Wright (via webex). Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I, Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance Director/Project Manager; Amy Cziske, Treasurer; Lisa Murray, Administrative Supervisor; and Chris Horner, DPA III. SPECIAL MEETING UNCOLLECTED TAXES TREASURER At 10:30 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to consider a Resolution to Cancel Uncollectable State Assessed Taxes. At 10:30 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith announced the Board would recess into Executive Session for 2 minutes with Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance Director/Project Manager to consider the selection of a site or the acquisition of real estate by lease or purchase when public knowledge regarding such consideration would cause a likelihood of increased price. Potential action was anticipated. At 10:32 a.m. the Board reconvened out of Executive Session and gave Staff direction to allow Patti Johnson to enter into a Purchase and Sale Agreement for Unit #43 to purchase a trailer in Shady Brooke Trailer Park. Patti Johnson left the meeting. Lisa Murray, Administrative Supervisor explained that in 2010 Ellensburg Telephone Company filed bankruptcy and why the taxes were unable to be collected. Commissioner Wright asked if there were procedures in place now so that this would not be a reoccurring item. Ms. Murray explained that the processes have improved, and the Treasurer’s Office implemented a Collections Deputy position. Chris Horner, DPA III supported the Resolution.
