COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING FRIDAY 3:30 P.M. DECEMBER 11, 2020
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright. (via Webex)
Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; and Bill
Clarke, Special Appointed County Lobbyist.
SPECIAL MEETING LEGISLATIVE AGENDA COMMISSIONERS
The Board overviewed the draft 2021 Kittitas County Commissioners
Legislative Agenda Items with Bill Clarke, Special Appointed
Lobbyist. Items included were under the topics of policy issues,
operating budget, capital budget, transportation budget, and
relationship to WSAC legislative agenda. Mr. Clarke provided several
points of interest under each topic.
The BOCC decided that under policy issues, the top priorities would
be Growth Management Act, Accessory Dwelling Units and Emergency
Powers Statute.
The BOCC decided that under operating budget, the top priorities
would be Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) and wildfire funding. It
was noted though, that the Board did not want to miss out on COVID-
19 funding opportunities.
The BOCC decided that under capital budget, the top priorities would
be local community projects, specifically Bower’s Field Airport and
the Bloom Pavilion in the Kittitas County Event Center.
The BOCC decided that under transportation budget, the top
priorities would be smaller in ask due to the budget being smaller
than anticipated and because of potential federal funding for
transportation. The Board decided to prioritize something like a
“pit toilet” off of exit 78 on Interstate 90.
