ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing to Consider Adopting a New Chapter of Kittitas County Code, Regarding the Defense and Indemnification of County Officers, Employees,
and Volunteers.
BACKGROUND: Pursuant to RCW 4.96.041, Kittitas County is authorized to implement a policy and procedure providing for the defense and indemnification of county officers, employees, and
volunteers who are subject to a claim or action for damages.
Kittitas County previously adopted Resolution 87-20, concerning the defense and indemnification of county employees, but that policy is not current, nor is it part of county code.
It would be beneficial for Kittitas County to adopt a current defense and indemnification policy, and for that policy to be codified.
INTERACTION: The proposed defense and indemnification policy was drafted by the Prosecutor’s Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing to Consider Adopting a New Chapter of Kittitas County Code, Regarding the Defense and Indemnification of County Officers, Employees, and Volunteers.
