ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Resolution Amending the Airport Advisory
Committee Charter
BACKGROUND: The Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) has been in the
process of reorganization over the past few months. A
Reorganization Sub-Committee was organized by
Commissioner Wright to revise size and scope of the AAC.
Per those meetings a document was created as a reference
to develop a new Airport Advisory Committee Charter and
draft By-Laws.
DISCUSSION: The Amended Charter is a culmination of several meetings
between the Airport Staff, Reorganization Sub-Committee
and Commissioner Wright over the last two months. This
charter is designed to help define appropriate size and
review criteria within the prevue of the AAC. The
amended charter also specifies the responsibility of the
Director or Airport Operations to relay AAC
recommendations on matters under AAC review to the
BoCC via staff reports. Airport Staff believes this amended
charter will provide a solid foundation for a productive and
purposeful AAC/Airport Staff relationship.
INTERACTION: Airport Staff has discussed this process with the
Reorganization Committee and the AAC. Airport Staff has
also worked with the Prosecutors office under Prosecutor
Request # 49131
RECOMMENDATION: Airport Staff is recommending the approval of the
resolution amending the Airport Advisory Committee
(AAC) Charter.
The AAC reviewed the Charter and voiced a concern about
not having a direct line of communication to the BoCC
defined in the Charter. The AAC agreed having direct
communications to the BoCC incorporated in the By-Laws
as sufficient.
