ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Resolution creating the Kittitas County Airport
Department

BACKGROUND: Bowers Field was established in 1943 as an Army Airfield and
turned over to Kittitas County shortly after WWII by the war assets
administration. Bowers Field is named after Ensign Keith Bowers,
serving in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, the 1st person from
Kittitas County to die in WWII. Bowers Field has been under the
direction of Public Works until earlier this year, when the county
hired a Director of Airport Operations. At which time Kittitas
County BoCC decided to develop a separate Airport Department.
The presented resolution reflects that vision.
INTERACTION: The Prosecutors Office has prepared a Resolution under
Prosecution Request #50653
RECOMMENDATION: Airport Staff recommends the BOCC approve the resolution
creating the Kittitas County Airport Department
