KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: December 15, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Resolution creating the Kittitas County Airport <br />Department <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Ken Grannan, Airport Coordinator <br />Benjamin West, Director of Airport Operations <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Bowers Field was established in 1943 as an Army Airfield and <br />turned over to Kittitas County shortly after WWII by the war assets <br />administration. Bowers Field is named after Ensign Keith Bowers, <br />serving in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, the 1st person from <br />Kittitas County to die in WWII. Bowers Field has been under the <br />direction of Public Works until earlier this year, when the county <br />hired a Director of Airport Operations. At which time Kittitas <br />County BoCC decided to develop a separate Airport Department. <br />The presented resolution reflects that vision. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Prosecutors Office has prepared a Resolution under <br />Prosecution Request #50653 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Airport Staff recommends the BOCC approve the resolution <br />creating the Kittitas County Airport Department <br /> <br />HANDLING: Original – Clerk of the Board <br /> Copy – Airport <br /> Copy – Prosecutors Office <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution
