ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Rescinding $61,000 in
Surface Transportation Block Grant funds to Kittitas
County Public Works Pursuant to Resolution 2020-050
Leaving $443,000 in award to Public Works
BACKGROUND: Resolution 2020-050 made available Surface
Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funding to Public
Works. Of the $504,000 awarded, Public Works saved
$61,000 in construction costs (Bullfrog Road) that can now
be reallocated for regional urban transportation
improvement. The money saved is intended to support
construction of the University Way/Reecer Creek Road
signal.
INTERACTION: Public Works.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Rescind $61,000 in rural and
urban STBG funding provided to Public Works in
Resolution 2020-050.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.

RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -
RESCINDING $61,000 IN SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT FUNDING
TO KITTITAS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS PURSUANT TO
RESOLUTION 2020-050 LEAVING $443,000 IN AWARD TO PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS: Resolution 2020-050 awarded $504,000 in Surface Transportation Block Grant
(STBG) funds to Public Works; and
WHEREAS: Public Works saved $61,000 in 2020 Bullfrog Road project construction costs;
and
WHEREAS: Public Works desires adding the $61,000 to the 2021 STBG rural grant program;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby rescind $61,000 in Surface Transportation Block Grant
funds awarded in Resolution 2020-050 and retains the balance as awarded to Public Works.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the $61,000 be made available to rural STBG grant
applicants during the 2021 grant cycle.
