Commissioners:
The Kittitas County Law & Justice Council is recommending adoption of the attached
resolution to award funding for grant projects from the Law & Justice 1/10th of 1%
sales tax reserve for 2021. We received 8 applications and are recommending funding
of 5. Once the resolution is approved, each recipient will receive an agreement for their
project or purchase. The Council is also recommending, as noted in the resolution, a
formal reserve of $100,000.00 to be set aside for clean up of the current shooting
range and the potential development of a new range.
We are asking 2 of the applicants to provide additional information to the Council prior
to a decision to recommend funding. We hope to make the decision of these 2 at the
next meeting of the Council.
Additionally, because of the amount available for grant funding, the Council will be
advertising for a second round of applications. The deadline for this round is February
15, 2021. The expectation is to bring forward a resolution to the Commissioners for
additional grant funding in March of 2021.
