At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to
discuss with HopeSource the potential uses for the 1046 Funds.
Susan Grindle, CEO of HopeSource stated that they are interested
in working on a project in the Upper County. There is a
potential to work with the cities to pool some money for the
Upper County.
Commissioner Wright stated this was a topic for the HAHC in the
meeting the following day, and the area for discussion will be
possible funding for more supportive services. The committee is
looking at how they are going to address causal factors of
homelessness.
Commissioner Osiadacz mentioned the 10-year plan from 2016, and
the main goals from that plan. Craig Kelly, HopeSource stated
the State directed all counties to reform the plans to a new 5-
year plan standard. This plan was adopted, and it prioritizes
construction of homeless units. Currently the County is ahead of
schedule on the 5-year plan. Homeless units are great until
there is a saturation in units, then supportive infrastructure
becomes important. This discussion will be held again with the
HAHC at the meeting on 10/30/20.
