Home My WebLink AboutSanctuary County signatures We The People for Kittitas County Proclamation WHEREAS, Governments are instituted among mankind, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; and that all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority; and WHEREAS, the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees, "...the Right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" and Article 6, Section 2-"This Constitution, and the laws... made in Pursuance thereof; Shall be the Supreme Law of the Land— ; and WHEREAS,Article 1, Section 2, of the Washington State Constitution declares "The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land."; and WHEREAS,Article 1, Section 24, of the Washington State Constitution further guarantees "The Right of the individual Citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired..."; and WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has declared "...a law repugnant to the Constitution is void..." (Marbury v. Madison); and ...."An unconstitutional act is not law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties, it is in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never been passed." (Norton v. Shelby County); and WHEREAS, the people in Kittitas County regard as inalienable their Natural Right of self-defense, constitutionally-guaranteed by the right to keep and bear arms; and further in its exercise derive economic benefit and enjoyment in all safe forms of recreation, hunting, and shooting; and WHEREAS, the myriad of measures imposed by government that criminalize lawful gun ownership do, in their substance and effect, infringe upon and impair the constitutionally-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms as exercised by law-abiding citizens, inhibit lawful self-defense, do nothing to increase security in our schools, our communities, our homes, nor address gang violence; and WHEREAS, the commissioners of Kittitas County, and the numerous council members of the various incorporated cities within Kittitas County are elected to represent the Citizens within their respective jurisdictions, and are duly sworn by their Oaths of Office to support and defend the State and Federal Constitutions. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: We The People for Kittitas County can upon the county commissioners to declare their respective jurisdictions to be 2nd Amendment sanctuaries in the protection of law-abiding citizens exercising of their constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms,AND FURTHER to direct that no Sheriff, Prosecutor, agent, employee, or official of their respective jurisdiction provide material support to or participate in any way, in the enforcement of any act, order, rule, law, or regulation repugnant to the constitutionally-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms exercised by law-abiding citizens of Kittitas County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: We The People for Kittitas County call upon all counties in Washington State to join us in this action by calling upon their elected officials to act in protecting their law-abiding citizens in the exercise of their constitutionally-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms by passing a similar resolution. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: We The People for Kittitas County wish to provide this resolution to the elected officials within Kittitas County and those representing Kittitas County at the state and national levels; and to all the People within our state. Kittitas County Field & Stream Club Established in 1919 P.U. Box 522 # Ellensburg, WA 98926 March 3, 2019 The Kittitas County Field & Stream Club has been in existence for 100 years, we are not affiliated with any political party. The Kittitas County Field & Stream Club unequivocally supports the Constitution of the United States and particularly the Second Amendment to the Constitution. The 2nd Amendment states that "...the Right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed", in addition, the Washington State Constitution, Article 1, Section 24 states that "The Right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired... " Further, Article 1, Section 2 of the Washington State Constitution declares "The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land. " It is the position of the Kittitas County Field and Stream Club that no single representative or collection of representatives of State or Federal Government has the right to violate either the Constitution of the United States, or the Washington State Constitution. In order to preserve those Federal and State Constitutional Rights, the Board of the Kittitas County Field & Stream Club supports the efforts of county citizens to declare Kittitas County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. Bill Essman, President r y www .kittitasf i I tr r KITTITAS VALLEY RIFLE and PISTOL CLUB February 4th, 2019 The Kittitas Valley Rifle and Pistol Club is a local club that has since 1947 dedicated itself and facility to the indoor shooting interests. The official Bylaws of the KVRPC clearly state,"The Club shall not discriminate on the basis of sex,sexual orientation, race,color, ethnicity, disability;religion or national origin."The object of the Club is also clearly stated in the KVRPC Bylaws and is as follows,"The object of this organization shall be the encouragement of organized shooting sports among residents of our community with a view toward better knowledge on the part of the citizens of our community in the safe handling and proper care of firearms,and the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship,self discipline and self reliance that are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism" The KVRPC Pledge binds all members of the KVRPC at the time of joining the Club, I certify that I am not a member of any organization which has as a part of its program,any attempt to overthrow the government of the United States or any of its,political subdivisions by force or crime of violence, and if admitted to membership,I will faithfully fulfill the obligations of good sportsmanship and good citizenship". The KVRPC is not directly or indirectly aligned with any political party. However the KVRPC is wholly committed to the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution and to Article 1 Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution. The KVRPC also categorically denies the right of any politician of the State of Washington or the United States the right to subvert the intent of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution or Article 1 Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution by any legislative means whatsoever. In so doing the KVRPC will support the efforts of local citizens to make Kittitas County a Sanctuary County for the preserration of those freedoms that support the legal use of firearms by the citizens of Kittitas County.
