2020-10-08 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. OCTOBER 8, 2020 Board members present: Chairman, Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner Cory Wright. Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Tristen Lamb, Public Health Administrator; Mark Larson, Health Officer; Candi Blackford, Chief Administrator; Katie Odiaga, Public Health Technician, and 3 members of the public. SPECIAL MEETING BOH APPOINTMENT COMMISSIONERS At 9:02 a.m. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting to consider appointing the recommended applicant from the Special Purpose Committee on the vacant Board of Health position. Tristen Lamb, Public Health Administrator reviewed the Staff Report and the application review process to the BOCC. The Special Purposes Committee recommended that the BOCC appoint Deanna Utley to the BOH. Commissioner Wright asked about the backgrounds of the applicants. Ms. Lamb stated all applicants represented a wide variety of professions in the community. Ms. Utley has background with the community and represents the medical field as well. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz stated that it was important for the BOH to represent the diversity of the community. She asked the Board to consider re-interviewing the top 3 candidates as a Board. Chairman Wachsmith stated he has worked with Ms. Utley before and was comfortable moving forward with the recommendation from the Special Purposes Committee. Commissioner Wright moved to appoint Deanna Utley to the vacant position on the BOH. Chairman Wachsmith seconded. During discussion Commissioner Wright stated he appreciated the work of the committee, and that Ms. Utley brings a wider perspective to the table and that she will serve the community well.
