SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 10:00 A.M. SEPTEMBER 24, 2020
Board members present: Chairman, Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman
Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Taylor
Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Kady Porterfield, KVEC
Director; Stephanie Hartung, Deputy Prosecutor.
SPECIAL MEETING KVEC UPDATES COMMISSIONERS
At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to
receive an update from Kady Porterfield an Event Center updates.
UPDATE FAIR CONTRACT EVENT CENTER
Ms. Porterfield updated the Board on some outstanding issues
with a 2020 Fair Entertainer Contract. She outlined the work
done by her Deputy Prosecutor and our Budget & Finance Manager
Judy Pless. Stephanie Hartung, Deputy Prosecutor presented the
next steps in the event that they must pursue litigation.
The Board stated that they will anticipate further conversations
in the future.
DISCUSSION BUDGET UPDATE EVENT CENTER
Ms. Porterfield updated the Board on her Budget. She stated that
she had just received the Fair Board’s Budget for 2021 and the
County Engineer was out to inspect the Posse Barns and he is
very concerned. She stated that they will need to be fixed and
that it will be a big hit to the budget. She also stated that
there will be significant expenses for the Buckaroo Stands and
reviewed the funding opportunities that will be impacted due to
having no County Fair or events. Commissioner Osiadacz informed
Ms. Porterfield of some possible grant funding opportunities
that may off-set the cost.
