COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:00 A.M. AUGUST 31, 2020
Board members present: Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz; Cory Wright,
Commissioner, (via WebEx); Chairman Brett Wachsmith-Excused.
Others Via WebEx: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy
Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk
of the Board I; Lisa Young, HR Director; Patti Johnson, Solid Waste
Director/Interim Maintenance Director/Project Manager; Pat Gigstead,
Chief Probation Officer; Kady Porterfield, KVEC Director and one
member of the public.
REGULAR MEETING OFFICE STAFF MEETING COMMISSIONERS
At 9:04 a.m. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz opened the Office Administration
meeting.
CALENDAR WEEK AT A GLANCE COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed their weekly calendars.
PAF/VOUCHERS REVIEW OF PAF’S & VOUCHERS COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners approved the County Vouchers and
PAF’s.
CORRESPONDENCE LOG REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE LOG COMMISSIONERS
The Correspondence Log for the week ending August 28, 2020 was
presented.
REQUEST REMODEL BASEMENT MORRIS SORENSON MAINTENANCE
Pat Gigstead, Chief Probation Officer stated that the spacing in
their waiting room with current regulations make it so they can’t
allow more than one person at a time in their waiting area and with
winter upon us he would like to get something in place so people are
not standing out in the cold.
The Board directed Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Interim
Maintenance Director/Project Manager to follow up with Judy Pless on
the CARES Funds available after getting an estimate on the project
cost. The Board discussed options for the space with COVID-19 is no
longer what the space is for. There was discussion that it could be
a small meeting room.

REQUEST SEASONAL POSITION – KVEC EVENT CENTER
Lisa Young, HR Director presented the Board with additional
information they requested at during her HR Study Session. She
stated that Director Porterfield has savings in her budget due to a
current employee being out on FMLA. She reviewed the salary options
pending experience and stated that it would be no more then 3
months.
The Board stated they would support it when a PAF comes forward.
PLANNING COVID-19 COMMISSIONERS
General updates were shared by the Board relating to COVID-19
meetings they participate in or information they have had shared
with them.
DISCUSSION FACEBOOK WEEKLY POSTS COMMISSIONERS
The Board determined for the week of August 31, 2020 that they would
continue to share on their Facebook page any Press Releases from
Public Health relating to COVID-19; as well as ongoing information
about the 4-H Livestock Auction/noting that its done by a non-profit
and a reminder about water safety tips.
OTHER BUSINESS/GENERAL UPDATES-
Commissioner Osiadacz gave an update on Pheasant Lane and stated
that she would like to see the Public Hearing continued to allow for
a work session with DNR, Pheasant Lane Community and County Staff.
Commissioner Wright informed the Board about a update received
during his Homelessness & Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
meeting and stated that the KVEC will be hosting the cold weather
shelter this year.
