AGENDA SESSION STAFF REPORT
AGENDA SESSION DATE: August 18, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Awarding the
Contract for the Bullfrog Road Pavement
Restoration Project CRP #300-20 and
authorize the Public Works Director to execute
the same.
BACKGROUND: On July 21, 2020, the Kittitas County Board of
County Commissioners authorized a Notice of
Call for Bids for the Bullfrog Road Pavement
Restoration Project.
INTERACTION:
Bids were opened on August 12, 2020 and the
lowest qualified bidder was American Rock
Products. The bid total was $367,763.00
The work is being completed with federal
funding from both the Surface Transportation
Block Grant and Highway Infrastructure
Funding programs, with supplemental local
road maintenance funding from Public Works.
The project will consist of planing existing
pavement, adjusting utility valve cases and
manholes, overlaying with hot mix asphalt,
temporary traffic control and permanent
roadway striping.

the Bullfrog Road Project and authorize the
Public Works Director to execute the same.

RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -
TO AWARD THE CONTRACT FOR THE BULLFROG ROAD PAVEMENT
RESTORATION PROJECT CRP #300-20 AND AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS
DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS: The call for sealed bids supporting the Bullfrog Road Pavement Restoration
Project was authorized by the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners on July
21, 2020; and
WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works solicited bids in accordance with RCW
36.77.020 Contract Procedures; and
WHEREAS: Sealed bids were opened on August 12, 2020 at 9:00am at the Kittitas County
Permit Center, Department of Public Works, 411 N. Ruby Street, Suite 1,
Ellensburg, WA; and
WHEREAS: Four (4) bids were received for the prescribed work. The Director of Public
Works recommends the lowest responsive bid from American Rock Products be
accepted; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds it in
the best interest of the County to award the Bullfrog Road Pavement Restoration
Project to American Rock Products in the amount of $367,763.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director for the Department of Public Works is
authorized to sign contract documents for said project.
