08/04/2020 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING <br /> TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. AUGUST 4, 2020 <br />Board members present via WebEx: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice- <br />Chairman Laura Osiadacz; and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others via Webex: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy <br />Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk <br />of the Board I; Mark Cook, Public Works Director/Interim Engineer; <br />Chris Horner, Deputy Prosecutor; and Judy Pless, Budget & Finance <br />Manager. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING RURAL COUNTY SALES & USE TAX FUNDS PROSECUTOR <br />At 2:00 p.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />an Ordinance extending the local control over rural county sales & <br />use tax funds. <br /> MARK COOK, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/INTERIM ENGINEER explained how the <br />sales and use tax does not impose a new tax, and does not extend a <br />tax, but instead allows for a shift in control over a portion of the <br />sales and use tax imposed by the State, from the State to Kittitas <br />County. CHRIS HORNER, DEPUTY PROSECUTOR said RCW 82.14.370(4) haws <br />been amended to allow Kittitas County to extend the period in which <br />it receives the credit, from June 30, 2023 through July 30, 2032. <br />He recommended approving the collection period to July 30, 2032. <br /> THERE BEING NO ONE IN ATTENDANCE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. ORDINANCE 2020-005 RURAL COUNTY SALES & USE TAX FUNDS PROSECUTOR CHAIRMAN WACHSMITH moved to approve Ordinance No. 2020-005, <br />Extending Local Control Over Rural County Sales and Use Tax Funds, <br />from June 30, 2023 to July 30, 2032. COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ <br />seconded.
