AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: August 4, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve a Professional Services Agreement for
installation of duress, or "panic" buttons to allow control of all jail doors and cameras to
be transferred to the other control desk in the event of an emergency.
BACKGROUND: Currently the main control room can take over the Annex doors and
cameras, but the Annex cannot take over control of the main jail doors and cameras in the
event of an emergency where the main jail control room was compromised. The scope of
work includes labor, materials for the installation, programming, and testing of control
area transfers through the new duress button activations. The project shall be funded by
revenues generated by the Inmate Telephone Service in accordance with Kittitas County
Board of Commissioners Resolution No. 91-109 and 96-146 which was set up to fund
capital improvements to the Public Safety Building.
INTERACTION: This Proposal was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County
Prosecutor's Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to approve a Professional Services Agreement for
installation of duress, or "panic" buttons to allow control of all jail doors and cameras to
be transferred to the other control desk in the event of an emergency.
